About

My love for writing began around the same time I met my first muse—Zeek, our fiercely loyal trained-to-go German Shepherd guard dog. My father had a custom built dog house for him placed outside of my wing of the house. I was very young, but I understood instinctively Zeek's #1 job was to protect me. I would pay him for his service, by sneaking out on my bedroom balcony carrying the famous red box of "Milk Bone" dog treats that crumbled to pieces when I'd throw a handful downstairs smashing the concrete.
My family has rescued dogs from our Metro Detroit area shelters since the early '90s, starting with my sweet girl Rally and then my boy "Tonk" (named after my favorite card game) Kobe (The Mamba Legend), Rudy (From the iconic "The Cosby's" TV show) & later Bella.
Growing up on 7 acres of woodland in the most beautiful and robust four seasons of Michigan; I have the best childhood memories with my dogs. We had races down the driveway on my Schwinn bike in the fall, played in the freezing snow in the winter, sun gazed together as spring bloomed before us and sunbathed together every summer. I watched each of my dogs adapt to their environment; defensive & victorious of the predators that came within their territory of electric fences that surrounded our home. But most of all; I remember the endless amounts of love and comfort they gave me; never leaving me alone. One things for certain, my dogs all grew up loving their life to the fullest living WILD & FREE and knowing they were loved deeply by us. My first true best friends!
My lifelong passion for animals has always found its way into my writing. Today, I’m a proud dog mom to a lively pack of fur babies, who often make appearances—whether by name or spirit—throughout my work. They inspire not only my articles to educate but also showcase their stunning beauty and rich personalities. Beyond the world of writing, I’m an advocate for ethical breeding practices and a dedicated supporter of the Humane Society community. Whether I’m writing about four-legged companions or championing their well-being in real life, my goal is to honor the unconditional love and happiness dogs bring into our lives—
